Writeup/Notes:
Having gotten a taste of what national level ProSolo was like, Mike and I were super-excited to get to Wendover for our second ProSolo. The drive out was uneventful, and we arrived in time on Friday to get registered. Unfortunately, when we got to the hotel, they had cancelled our reservation due to my credit card having been declined, since I had changed numbers when my wallet was stolen at the World Arena back in June. So, we bunked with Jesse Caudill and Ryan B. Long live the long purple column-pillow thing!
Saturday morning's runs for us started somewhat badly, with Mike spinning twice (!) on his first run, and me spinning and sliding off into the concrete/skree at the south end of the courses. Not a good start!
Saturday afternoon went better, with both of us ripping off some times quick enough to beat a few of the folks (Spank1) that we were significantly behind in Farmington. Unfortunately, what turned out to be the center cowl was giving us redlight issues, and we both lost our best runs. Being quick was particularly heartening, since we were on Ecsta V700's, which don't do real well on concrete, especially relative to Hoosiers and the Ecsta V710 of our competitors.
Sunday came, and both Mike and I improved on Saturday, having watched some video from Saturday. Again, we lost what would have been our quickest runs, me to another redlight (center cowl :-( ), and Mike to a cone. Even losing our best times, we were closer than before to the same folks in Farmington, so it's great to see that our testing with the shocks and the new spring/tires made a big difference. All right!
The only issue to arise, other than a leaking rear diff seal, was that the left front wheel bearing bolts started to back out. This originally manifested itself as an inconsistent brake pedal, and worsened into a squealing front left wheel, which we thought meant that the brake pads had given up. Further, turning left on the highway made for a very darty car, which made the drive home somewhat unpleasant. But, it was all diagnosed in the end, and all is fine. A little blue loctite now resides on those bolts. Good stuff.
As before, we had a blast racing, and I finally made some progress on how better to do offset gates.
